It's my fabulous friend Stephanie's birthday today and we are celebrating by going out for lunch. Yipee! I feel like with the holiday craziness I just haven't been able to see my friend Steph nearly enough and now we actually get to hang on her day! How do l love my Stephanie? Let me count the ways....
1. Stephanie is always there for me, for the big stuff or the small. Who else would read my long rambling emails about things that are irritating me??
2. Much ado about nothing. We can gab or email about the most random but oh-so-important-to-us things...and we don't even need a joint to do so.
3. She is my fashion mentor and is as girlie as I am. Stephanie always looks fabulous, even when she's just hangin' in sweats around her house. The girl will don her studded Chrisitan Louboutin boots just to meet me for coffee so I can check them out.
4. Stephanie and I discovered long ago that we have so much in common and we'll often end up doing or saying or buying the same things!!! We will easily show up somewhere in the same coat or wearing the same jewelry...and we are catty about it? Hell to the no! In fact, we revel in it!
5. The girl can cook. And she cooks for me. Is there anything else I need to say about that?!
6. Stephanie is one of the most generous people I know and the most gracious host. Whenever I am at her house I feel like royalty. She will give you the shirt off her back or the purse out of her closet--literally.
7. She has a wicked wit and she's not afraid to use it. The girl is hilariously funny. And did I mention smart as a whip??
8. We can talk for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and....well, you get the idea.
9. She's a great travel companion. Our unforgettable trip to NYC proved that!!!
10. There is no B.S. with Stephanie. What you see is what you get. She may be gorgeous, smart, funny and glamorous but she is down-to-earth nice and REAL, baby.
Really the list could go ever on and on, just like the road....:-) (Tolkien reference, to those of you who might have missed that...and shame on you if you did...!) I am oh-so-lucky to have my friend Stephanie in my life!
Happy Birthday Girlie!!!!!!!!

Ahhh, the Christmas season. Baking cookies, gazing at the tree, wrapping presents, and re-living your very own
Of course I started telling her about Warbride and the moment the word came out of my mouth she grabbed my arm, mouth opened wide, and proceeded to tell me that she has heard of me...and even has photos!!! Huh?! It took a while to put the connection together--at first I thought she heard about us from someone I knew from back in the day--but no, it was from my good friend and used-to-be neighbor Gary.
And she heard this about a YEAR ago. How crazy and small-worldish is that?! I can't even believe it. I truly love that sort of thing, don't you? You can hear her band here on their MySpace
He and another boy sang so loudly everyone was giggling--especially when they would stop singing and the cow took about 3 bows after each song. (how bow, brown cow...?? sorry.) Nothing will make you laugh and cry like seeing your kid in a Christmas play, I'll tell you that. I always get so choked up at those things, seeing those sweet kids up there talking about loving each other and peace and all that stuff. You know, the things we are supposed to be doing every day of the year? We can hope, we can hope.
The other night I was getting the coffee ready for the next morning and saw that I was just short of what I needed to make my 4 cups (which is actually 1 and a half big cups) to have upon waking. I threw a little of Coreman's 'real' stuff (he refuses to do the decaf, we have two coffee pots going!) in there figuring a couple of tablespoons-worth wouldn't be a big deal. Not so. I couldn't believe how crappy I felt! Nauseated, lightheaded, just generally yucky. I had errands to run, one of which was to use a $15 coupon at
